PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

A Public Hearing will be held on Friday, October 10, 11:00 AM. at Valparaiso City Hall, 166 Lincolnway, Valparaiso, Indiana, to discuss potential reductions to Chicago Dash fifth route Monday-Thursday and reduce to Two routes on Friday’s bus services. Valpo Transit’s ridership has been increasing since the height of the pandemic but is still a fraction of the pre-COVID numbers. Our goal is to offer the best service possible in a fiscally responsible way. To help do that, we are looking for ways to reduce costs that least impact our riders, specifically by service reductions on certain routes with continued low ridership. We aim to make Valpo Transit more efficient so we can keep providing quality service well into the future. Please join us for an open comment session to discuss potential impacts to your daily commute to and from the Chicago loop.
In addition to attending the meeting in person, riders can participate by filling out a Bus Route Usage survey. You may also submit written or taped comments in advance and for two days after the meeting. Reasonable accommodation will be provided. Valparaiso City Hall is ADA accessible and designated parking is available. Please let us know five days in advance of the meeting if you need additional reasonable accommodation.
