Lincoln Highway Garage

Welcome to the Lincoln Highway Garage!

The Lincoln Highway Garage adds vitality to Valparaiso’s downtown by adding parking for shoppers, diners and visitors, as well as residents of The Linc apartments, expanding housing options for our desirable downtown.

By the Numbers

The Lincoln Highway Garage offers a total of 360 parking spots. Of these 360:

  • 152 are public spots
  • 6 spots are for electric vehicle (EV) charging
  • 2 spots are accessible public parking
  • 127 spots are for The Linc residents 24/7
  • 73 spots are shared or “nested” spots that will be available to city residents and visitors from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. These shared spots will become available only to The Linc residents after 5:00 pm.

Free parking for visitors

Like most other City of Valparaiso public parking, parking at the Lincoln Highway Garage will be free for the first three hours. You may purchase a permit (available at City Hall) for free all-day parking.

Overnight parking

Overnight parking (considered 2:00 am to 6:00 am) is not available at the Lincoln Highway Garage, unless you are a resident of The Linc and have a permit.

EV Parking and Charging

To maximize use of the EV charging spots, we are using the AmpUp app to manage these spaces. The app allows users to reserve, pay and monitor their charging through the app. The ampUp app is available through the Google Play store and a QR code on the spaces will also direct you to the app.

Fees for the new charging stations include:

  • A session fee of $5 to plug in
  • $.30 per kWh
  • Idle fee charge of $15 (flat fee) for cars left on charger past the three-hour time limit
  • 11% service fee to AmpUp is added to the final price

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I park for longer than the free 3 hours?

Annual parking permits are available for $100 from the office of the Clerk-Treasurer in City Hall. Cash or check made payable to the City of Valparaiso is accepted. Permits allow parking in several permit lots, including the Lincoln Highway Garage, throughout downtown for an unlimited amount of time per day. Please note that a parking permit does not entitle users to overnight parking (2:00 am to 6:00 am) at Lincoln Highway Garage.

What if I am parked in a shared or nested spot outside of the hours of 8:30 am – 5:00 pm?

Because these shared spots are designed to serve both visitors and residents of The Linc, they are not available to non-residents of The Linc beyond these hours. If you need parking beyond these hours, please choose a dedicated (not shared) spot to avoid a parking violation fine.
