Police Social Work

The Valparaiso Police Department social worker assists the police department in situations involving mental health, Substance Use Disorders, housing instability, and other challenges in order to reduce crime, recidivism, and repeated calls for service involving a variety of community needs. The police social worker sits on a variety of committees, connects with other police social workers throughout the region and state, and is housed within the department itself.
