Stu Summers is the Executive Director of the Redevelopment Commission.
As the head of the commission, Stu is responsible for the planning, project management and financial management of the Commission’s many programs, staff and budget.
Holding a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, Stu has worked more than 35 years in municipal management and economic development. Valparaiso Mayor, David Butterfield, appointed Stu as one of the first Redevelopment Commission members in 1994. Stu resigned as a commission member and became the Commission's first executive director in 2002.
Stu has lived in Valparaiso with his family since 1990 and he has also been commissioned as an Admiral of the Texas Navy by Governor William P. Clements in 1989.
