Heavy Winter Storm Warning and Travel Advisory for Valparaiso starting on the evening of Tuesday February 1, 2022 through Thursday February 3, 2022
Valparaiso residents should prepare and take the necessary precautions as heavy snow and dangerous travel are expected over the next few days. Two rounds of snow are possible, the first Tuesday evening through much of Wednesday as the worst conditions will be from 3 am to 12 pm Wednesday with an accumulation of up to 1 inch per hour during this time (8-12 inches). Wednesday night through Thursday midafternoon we can expect an additional 3-6 inches. Valparaiso City Services crews will be working round the clock and will be concentrating on the most highly traveled thoroughfares and critical areas. Depending on the severity of the storm, side streets, neighborhoods and cul-de-sacs will be secondary routes. “Our priority is to provide the best possible service for emergency personnel and residents. We ask for the public’s support and patience as our snow team will be working over a 36-hour period to tackle the snow events.” Please be advised that due to the amount of snow the secondary routes will take time for them to be properly cleaned and curbed by the end of the week. Please remove vehicles from City Streets to allow for proper removal of snow as required by City Ordinance.
