Katrina Spence-Smock Named to AHRC

Katrina Spence-Smock

Katrina Spence-Smock has been named to the Advisory Human Relations Council for the City of Valparaiso, announced Mayor Matt Murphy. “Katrina Spence-Smock is a demonstrated and committed community advocate. We’re grateful to add her insight to the Human Relations Council,” said Murphy.

 

Spence-Smock is a criminal defense and family law attorney in private practice with Spence Law Office. She has been a committed volunteer with the St. Vincent De Paul Society. In the legal field, she has volunteered her services with the Porter County Alternative Treatment Courts, which includes the Veterans Court and Restoration Court.  She was recently chosen as one of 20 members for the current Lugar Series, a statewide leadership academy for women. Spence-Smock is a graduate of St. Joseph’s College and earned her law degree at DePaul University School of Law. She and her husband, Les Smock, have raised six children and have been active parents in the Valparaiso Community Schools.

 

The Advisory Human Relations Council advances and supports community inclusion, providing counsel and assistance to the mayor. Appointed by the mayor, the Board includes 14 members, including five non-voting members representing the City of Valparaiso, Valparaiso University and the Valparaiso Community Schools.
