SIDEWALK
REPLACEMENT
The
city of Valparaiso is responsible for maintaining nearly 200 miles
of sidewalks. While a sidewalk construction program is being considered through the Pathway
Committee, the city currently offers a program to assist homeowners
in having their sidewalks repaired. Under the program, Public Works
will work with property owners to assess the sidewalk and place
sidewalks on a repair list.
Should
a property owner wish to have a sidewalk repaired sooner than the
list permits, the city will work with property owners who wish to
hire their own professional contractor to complete the work. Under
this arrangement, Public Works will:
|
|
Remove
and dispose of the existing sidewalk |
|
|
Provide
utility locates for construction |
|
|
Pass
along the city's contract rate for concrete |
In
this way, a property owner can expedite the process to have a new
sidewalk professionally installed. To be placed on the repair list
or initiate the process to have your own walk repaired, contact
Public Works at 462-4612 or e-mail us at publicworks@valpo.us.
