BRUSH / YARD WASTE PICKUP

Valparaiso Public Works provides residents with curbside brush and yard waste collection. Collection typically takes place on Thursdays and Fridays, because crews are picking up trash and recyclables Monday through Wednesday.

How to facilitate pick up:
Please place brush/yard waste neatly at the curbside; not in the street. Although it's not necessary, brush and yard waste may be placed in containers, bagged in biodegradable paper lawn bags, or simply bundled to facilitate pick up. To ensure prompt pick up, alert our office by calling 462-4612 or e-mailing us at publicworks@valpo.us.

What is accepted:
Residential brush and yard waste is accepted; however the city cannot accept grass clippings, milled lumber or contractor/landscaper-generated debris.

Where brush and yard waste goes:
Brush and yard waste picked Up by the city is taken to the city-owned, state-sanctioned composting facility located at 2150 W. Lincolnway. The brush and yard waste is used to produce the compost and mulch available to residents. Click here for more details including how you can use this mulch in your own yard!
