Many towns and cities in Lake and Porter Counties were hard-hit by rains generated by Hurricane Ike. Valparaiso was no exception - over 11 inches fell in two (2) days. Ditches overflowed, streets were flooded, basement filled with water and mud, and city systems were strained to the limit and beyond. It will take awhile for the region to recover; below are images taken Sunday, August 14, of flooded and damaged areas throughout the city.
