In 1990, Valparaiso's adopted son, former major league player Harry "The Horse" Danning, began a partnership with the Valparaiso Parks Department to hold a tournament. It is one of the area's most anticipated events and hosts over a dozen teams each year as a state-qualifying tournament for the Amateur Softball Association's (ASA) men's D level. Proceeds benefit the Valparaiso Parks Department's youth baseball and softball leagues. For more information, contact the Valparaiso parks office at 219.462.5144.
