Mayor Jon Costas has put together an Energy Task Force, and recommendations from the Task Force have included the following:
| 1. | Develop a comprehensive city energy policy. |
| 2. | Form an Energy Commission. |
| 3. | Develop a strategy to reduce dependency on traditional gasoline- and diesel fuel-powered vehicles within the city's operations and in the community. |
| 4. | Use energy-efficient building guidelines for existing buildings and new or renovated buildings. |
| 5. | Require energy awareness be a priority for all city employees. |
| 6. | Facilitate the adoption of renewable energy sources. |
| 7. | Support community and business projects and develop partnerships that promote energy fitness in the community. |
