[ARCHIVED] WEATHER SAFETY ALERT

Out of concern for safety, Mayor Costas is encouraging residents to stay at home until conditions improve. Please stay home and be sure to check on friends, neighbors, and relatives who might be at risk, says Mayor Jon Costas.

All 13 city plows are out 24/7 to keep the streets open for safety personnel. But with the wind picking up, the drifting makes it more difficult. Please stay at home unless it is an emergency, and be sure to check on friends, neighbors and relatives who might be at risk.

Due to extreme weather conditions, City of Valparaiso is closing all non-essential offices today. For assistance with weather-related issues, you may call the Central Dispatch Center at 219-477-3000 or 911 for emergencies. Public Works is DELAYING TRASH & RECYCLING pick ups this week by ONE DAY. If you normally have pick up on Monday, it will be Tuesday; If you're normally Tuesday, it will be Wednesday. Normal schedule resumes Monday, January 13, 2014.
